I like to quip that competence that cannot produce is fake. Whenever you confess the possession of some essence, but it's difficult for you to show the proof of the presence of such an essence, it can be concluded by everyone that you do not have it.
Now, you don't have to prove to anybody that you have anything, or that you have what you say you have. But, having something has proof(s) that can be seen or felt. Somebody who talks too much but confesses to being very reserved is either telling us a lie, or we might have them misunderstood. But, would you blame us? Results are the name of the game we play on planet Earth.
There are some profound quotes that suggest the binary of essence and results, cause and effect. Somebody said,
"The sure sign of a weak mind is a body that cannot rest."
There you have your testimony. It's not often binary, but the presence of smoke should suggest there's fire.
So, you don't have to confess what doesn't exist. You don't have to try to deceive anybody...for results, hunger, and passion are enough proof. Confession without virtue is fake. Competence that cannot produce is fake. I rest my case.
