And he seized the phone. Told me to switch it off and drop it with his stuff. For the remaining one hour of the class, I was physically present but my mind was elsewhere. Yes, I was listening and writing, but my mind was wandering. My hands and feet became cold and my eyes darted around the hall. From looking at the door, to the ceilings fans, to the cobwebs on the ceiling, to the doors, to my feet, I pondered and wondered.
And finally, the class ended. But oh! Alas! Judgement day! He called me out, and said I committed four crimes; I had the audacity, "effontry" (and two other words I've forgotten) to commit such a shameful crime. I stood with a calm expression staring at the man. I don't know where it came from, but I had confidence. Fortunately, he said he'll take me as a first offender and returned the phone.
Yeah, he returned it. But not after telling me to buy "Bottles of Uniuyo Table Water"!! But where was u supposed to get that from?! Till today, the incident is evergreen in my memory. The next class, I made sure he didn't see me, though I was present.
And that's my story. But can I tell you something else? Here on earth, people do things anyhow, forgetting the fact that soon, we'll face the Great White Throne Judgement. They do things in private, claiming "nobody is seeing me!" Says who?! Have you forgotten that God is Omnipresent and Omniscient? Have you forgotten that He sees all we do? And we'll give account on the Judgement day?
You've read the story, now take time to ponder on my message. The lecturer granted me mercy. But wait, he's human, and God is Divine. Would you be worthy of being granted mercy? Or would you be found wanting and set to hell, where there's "... wailing and gnashing of teeth..."?
The choice is yours to make. Surrender to God or submit to the devil. Your actions here on earth will make or mar your eternity, and you'll either have eternal rest or everlasting restlessness.
