This time of the year is a time I consider my favourite. You know why? Rain. Yes, rain. When it's dry season, or summer, I call that time suffering. It's as if the whole world's turn it's back against you. The heat, sweat, agony and everything. You can't even breathe in peace, hot air streaming down your lungs, your sweat pores and glands producing sweat as if you've been poured water.
You attempt putting on up to two layers of clothing and almost immediately you delete them off your body. Even water does not pity you. Except there's electricity, no cold water to drink. To bathe , you have to get water hours before usage and keep in the deepest part of the house just to get it warm, not to talk about cold.
You want to sleep, another matter. You can't lie peacefully on your king sized bed (could be queen sized though). You have to jump down and lie on the floor, bare at that, to see if there'll be a little coldness. But when rainy season comes, I give a huge sigh of relief. With it comes satisfaction, to me, yeah. I can happily lie on my queen sized bed (I'm not sure of the size hehehe) without a care, cover my duvet, plug in earplugs and listen to cool music, while reading a novel or writing a poem or novel.
For me, I love rainy season because of cold. I love cold. This is because I sweat easily. Just to stand and walk some feet away, my system will produce a large amount of sweat, I don't know how and why. So, when I see lightnings flash and hear thunders rumble, I jump in excitement with a very huge smile on my face.
That's when I open the window very wide (despite my mom's nagging though. I can't help it.), sit by the window and watch trees dance, birds and other creatures seek for refuge, roofs struggle against leaving the houses, and dark grey clouds cover the clear blue skies.
You know what amazes me? The fact that these two seasons come with their advantages and disadvantages. While the sun is needed for warmth, if it's too much, it causes famine, drought and death of some living things. On the other hand, while the rain is needed to balance the climate, if it's too much, it causes storms that could destroy lives and properties, erosion and all of that.
But in spite of all these, I'm amazed at God's wondrous and marvelous works of creation, and I'm forever grateful for that. I am El Shava.
