From creation, that is the time of Adam, the divine plan and structure of God for man was to operate as a direct image and replica of God, but due to the disobedience of man in the garden of Eden, man lost this structure or modus operandi, man exchanged this divine plan for a moment of enjoyment (sin). That was in the beginning and from that time forth man did not operate in the image he was made of. Using an illustration of a man standing in front of a dusty and dirty mirror, he is not able to recognize or see the likeness he has, so he is confused and tries to carry himself the way he thinks is best. The dust and dirt covering this mirror is the sin man commits and the mirror is God's word for man. The nature of sin is in man and when a man is born into this world, no matter what he does, he cannot see the image in which he was made of.
The fall of man disrupted the divine plan of God for mankind, so in the bid of man to find his way and know who he is, man began to look for various means to save himself by the means of idol worshipping and riotous living. And this displeased God so much that He had to choose for Himself a people who are called by His name but this too did not guarantee the restoration of mankind. So the laws were given to these set of people but because this nature was still in them, they could not abide or obey His laws as He wanted. So, there had to be a way of total redemption and saving for mankind and how was this done?
A sacrifice! there had to be a sacrifice, that if it was that by one man sin and death came into the world, then it should be also that by one man through death will vanquish sin from the world the Son of God, Jesus Christ had to be sacrificed as a way out to the sin of all man kind. His death and resurrection brought life and eternal safety for all mankind, that if any man would believe in Him and accept Him as his personal Lord and Saviour and continue to abide in Him (Jesus) then shall that man be saved from eternal damnation. Now, man can look into the clear mirror of God's word through salvation and know that he is MADE IN HIS IMAGE.
