Hatewatch.
Hatewatching. What a beautiful concept. The joy of seeing the sorrows of another club is so beautiful to watch. Over the past week, I had my bowl full. Back to back meals. Liverpool thought they were going to run away with it lol. That first meal that PSG served has to be top 10 hate-watching ever. Splendid performance from them.To be fair on them(Pool), they had a good run. Salah was on a generational run and I was actually rooting for him to win the Ballon d’or. Been a long long time an African won it. But unfortunately for him, he plays for our biggest rivals. Still a fan and wish him well.Hatewatching is more than just a guilty pleasure, it’s a weirdly entertaining psychological trap. Some times, it’s about the thrill of witnessing a train wreck. Other times, it’s about feeding your inner critic. Let us be real, there is something very satisfying about seeing your rival get absolutely torn apart. Why exactly do we do this to ourselves? It is simple, nothing beats this sequence of emotions. First comes the curiosity and denial, just basically convincing yourself that you only want to see how it unfolds. Then Investment, actually now interested in every play, every throw-in, every pass. Then the unbounded joy, man this feeling is out of this world, the joy of seeing the tears and the heartbreak of people you don’t like. Nothing beats this sequence I tell you.So is this bad? Should we stop? Everyone has something they love to hate. You say you don’t care, but deep down you love the drama. Let’s not pretend we don’t enjoy it just a little too much. Because if we really hated it…we would just stop watching, right? Right. After everything, you will tell yourself that you never really cared about them like that. Lol Oya nau. I believe you. Better tune in that match and feed your soul with joy.
