I recently had a moment where I felt a tinge of sympathy for the devil. I was listening to some music and thought to myself, “music is so wonderful”, one of the most amazing things God created. Then, I remembered a place where ther is no music, hell because in hell God has stripped away every aspect of himself. It truly is a terrrible place, no light, no love, no joy, no rest, no peace, no music. As for Lucifer, music was once his greatest talent. A gift given to him by God, and while he may still knows his way around it, his ultimate fate is the complete loss of his talent in the place of eternal torment.
I had a moment of sympathy because I imagined what it must feel like to be so good at something, so talented with such a wonderful skill only to have it stripped from you, to have it be utterly useless. To be doomed to an eternity in a place where it will never find expression.
What the devil does to many is to display the dregs of what he once had and entice people with it. He presents his beauty as though he never lost it, as though it were the same as what he had before he fell. Alas, all his beauty is a lie, for every strand of beauty that graces our universe comes from God and God alone, in whom there is no variableness nor shadow of turning, and no one that looks away from God can hold on to beauty.
That is why, in the bottomless pit, the Devil’s final destination, there is no beauty, only pain, there is no music, only tears.
Unfortunately for him, there’s no turning back either, to beauty, to music, forever.
What is Love? “An intense feeling of deep affection” -for a person or “Great interest or pleasure in something”- for a thing
That’s what Google will tell you.
As of writing this, I have never been in a romantic relationship. But after witnessing a lot of relationships, I thought, what is love? Why do we love? Is love sexual? Is it emotional? Is it healthy? Is it safe?
To get a clearer picture of what love really is, I thought of a verse from the Bible. John 15:13. These are the words of Jesus, who probably doesn’t need any introduction. Many see him as one of the most important human representations of love, at least in the faith of Christianity.
“Greater love has no man than this, that a man should lay down his life for his friends.” The words “greater love” imply that you couldn’t do anything to demonstrate love more than dying for someone. If Jesus’ example of the greatest kind of love is laying down your life, then this presents a principle that we cannot separate from love, sacrifice.
The Apostle Paul told us that "The love of money is the root of all evil". For a long time, I thought this meant that money was the source of all evil; however, after watching a rather harrowing cartel video, I discovered the true meaning of his statement.
Let's put it like this: "The love of money can inspire every kind of evil."
Pharmaceutical companies add excess amounts of highly addictive chemicals such as fentanyl to their drugs (opioids), which gets members of the public addicted to them and ruins their lives. Some even take overdoses and die. Why do certain companies do this? Because they want more sales from their addictive product. Why? They love money.
People will sell their bodies to do immoral things because they love money. Sex has been commercialized through the internet. Many who make sexual content do it because they know that a natural human desire for connection and pleasure exists, and they can exploit it for money. Cartel members will torture and murder people to strike fear in the hearts of rival gangs and the general public. Why do they do this? To safeguard their operations. Why? They love money.
People lie to make money. They steal. They manipulate. Wars have been fought for resources for money. People slaughtered. The list goes on.
What will you do for money?
I need to write something deep, introspective and informative, something that can add value to people's lives. I don't really want to do that, though.
I suppose if I don't, then there isn't much reason to write publicly. But write I shall.
